9th Meeting of Academic Council GCWUF


9th meeting of Academic Council, Government College Women University Faisalabad was held on 2nd June 2023. The meeting was chaired by worthy Vice Chancellor, GCWUF Prof. Dr. Robina Farooq (T.I). The meeting was attended by Pro-Vice Chancellor GCWUF Prof. Dr. Zill-i-Huma Nazli, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Nawaz, Ex-Vice Chancellor, University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, Lahore, Prof. Dr. Rakhshanda Nawaz Ex-Dean Science, University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, Prof. Dr. Saleem Farooq Shoukat, Director COMSATS University Islamabad (Vehari Campus),Prof. Dr. Muhammad Asghar,Dean, Faculty of Science, University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, Muhammad Irfan Anwar, Deputy Secretary (Univ.-I) Higher Education Department, Govt. of the Punjab, Lahore, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal, Chairman, Department of Botany, GCUF, Dr. Samina Iqbal, Principal, Scientist, NIBGE, Faisalabad, and Dr. Rizwan Yasin Department of Economics, GCUF. Ms. Rizwana Tanveer Randhawa Controller of Examinations, Prof. Dr. Saima Akram Acting Chairperson Department of Mathematics, Prof. Dr. Ayesha Sameen, Acting Chairperson Department of Food Science and Nutrition/Coordinator faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Dr. Nousheen Syed Coordinator faculty of Management and the librarian of the university attended the meeting as internal members. Director QEC was the observer in the Academic Council whereas Heads of all teaching departments were invited to the meeting as co-opted members. Registrar GCWUF Mr. Asif A. Malik, presented the agenda items as secretary of the meeting. The Chairperson of the Academic Council / Vice Chancellor presented academic report of the last one year of the university before the honourable members of the council which included current university ranking, initiation of new academic programmes, progress in the field of research and innovation, designing market-driven policies to promote entrepreneurship among students, Skill development programme and projects of community service, and other major academic and developmental projects. The house approved all minutes of Board of Faculties of different faculties, approved necessary amendments in existing academic rules, appreciated and approved the Policy for ???Open and Distance Learning (ODL)??? as per standards of Higher Education Commission, Pakistan, approved the Scheme of Studies of newly launched programs, and establishment of ???China Study Center??? at GCWUF. The academic Council approved biannual admissions at GCWUF for the first time in order to broaden opportunities of the Higher Education to maximum aspiring female students in Pakistan. the local community. The house also recommended the idea of splitting the Faculty of Science and Technology into three faculties having alike compatibility. This agenda item was advised to be presented in the next academic council with proper working. At the end, the Registrar Mr Asif A Malik as secretary of the meeting recapped the last four-year academic performance of the Vice Chancellor and appreciated her progressive and innovative policies for uplifting all academic standards of GCWUF.
